Job Summary

Porter-Gaud School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Training Specialist to join our Athletics Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical care and support to student-athletes, as well as assisting with the development and implementation of athletic training programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Care and Support: Provide medical care and support to student-athletes, including injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Program Development and Implementation: Assist with the development and implementation of athletic training programs, including the creation of emergency action plans and the maintenance of athletic training supplies and equipment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, physicians, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure the health and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student-athlete medical history, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as school policies and procedures, related to athletic training and student-athlete care.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE-accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification and Licensure: BOC certification and South Carolina Athletic Training State Licensure required.
  • Experience: Experience working in a school setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Athletic Training Principles and Practices: Thorough knowledge of existing system and state athletic regulations, as well as the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques associated with the athletic training program.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations, as well as work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, physicians, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds, as well as work in a traditional climate-controlled office/building environment and in outside weather conditions.
