Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Coordinator to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Medical Office Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our outpatient registration process, providing exceptional patient care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring accurate and timely registration and billing processes.
  • Prepare and present necessary paperwork, including consent forms and financial obligations, to patients and their families.
  • Collect and process patient payments, including deposits, co-payments, and deductibles.
  • Balance daily receipts and cash drawer, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Initiate screenings and obtain necessary information for coverage, completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Perform medical necessity checks and complete Advanced Beneficiary Notices as required.
  • Schedule, reschedule, or cancel patients in accordance with hospital workflows.
  • Verify order completeness and validate orders against scheduled services.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • State criminal background check, and federal, if applicable, as required for state department of health regulated areas based on physical work location.
  • Ability to accurately utilize applicable computer software and equipment for access processing and demonstrate ability to follow downtime procedures.
  • Knowledge of procedures to report and/or document unsafe/hazardous conditions, incidents, and defective equipment in compliance with hospital policy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand written and verbal communication.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
