About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team at Universal Fire & Casualty Insurance Company. As a key member of our Commercial Property and Casualty department, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial insurance policies and developing new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance policies, including renewals and new business, to ensure accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
  • Analyze complex data and information to determine the risk profile of potential clients and make informed underwriting decisions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key wholesalers and agents to drive business growth and revenue.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, claims, and operations, to develop and implement effective underwriting strategies and policies.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and optimal business outcomes.
  • Provide expert underwriting guidance and support to producers and other stakeholders to drive business growth and revenue.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth and expansion within existing and new markets.
Requirements
  • At least five years of commercial insurance underwriting experience, with a strong background in property and casualty insurance.
  • Proven track record of success in managing a portfolio of commercial insurance policies and developing new business opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
