Pekin Insurance is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Production Underwriter to join our team. As a Field Production Underwriter, you will be responsible for developing relationships with selected insurance agencies focused on commercial insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop professional working relationships with agents, loss control, rating and sales teams, and other corporate departments as needed.
  • Produce desired commercial lines growth with profitable results.
  • Qualify, rate, and bind commercial risks for agencies.
  • Make consistent underwriting decisions that match commercial appetite and identified pricing guidelines.
  • Work closely with Loss Control and Commercial Lines Departments to recommend risk improvements.
  • Monitor agency results for growth and profitability.
  • Act as a liaison between agents and the company.
  • Research and advise the company of changes within the industry regarding new products, process improvements, and carrier philosophies.
  • Travel to agencies within the state to assist in writing commercial risks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in underwriting, field underwriting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience in underwriting or agency management, preferred.

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated skill in listening and communicating with the ability to speak in public.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and/or weekends as necessary.
  • Take initiative and work independently or with teams.
  • Maintain a positive image and build strong relationships.

Software Skills:

  • Microsoft Office software.
