Job Title: Office Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Office Specialist to join our team at the City of Chesapeake. As an Office Specialist, you will provide exceptional customer service and administrative support to our customers and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service and respond to inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, receive, distribute, open, time stamp, sort, and make daily mail runs to City Hall.
  • Coordinate appointments and arrange job interviews with prospective new hires.
  • Daily compose reports, input data entries, enter, update, and/or edit into computer system.
  • Maintain handheld radio communication with Waste employees/Supervisors.
  • Work with minimal supervision, manage time efficiently, and adjust priorities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and any combination of education and experience equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education in word processing, secretarial skills, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time equivalent experience in administrative support.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with City Driving Standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
