Duties/Functions/Tasks:

Escort patients to and from exam rooms, help patients prepare for exams.

Enter medical histories and prescriptions into electronic medical records.

Assist physicians during exams and procedures.

Perform extractions, injections, and other patient care tasks.

Collect path and lab specimens, notify patients of results, and schedule follow-up appointments.

Educate patients and respond to patient questions in the office or on the phone as needed.

Document all medical instructions given to patients.

Organize exam rooms, prepare procedure trays, clean and autoclave instruments, and stock supplies.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements:

Experience:

Minimum two years' experience in a doctor's office.

Prior dermatology experience is preferred.

Education:

Certification is preferred (i.e., Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Dermatology Technician, etc.).

Other Requirements:

Performance Requirements:

Quality written and verbal communication skills.

Professional appearance and mannerisms.

Knowledgeable of medical dermatology terms, CPT, and ICD-10.

Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others, patients, and coworkers.

Able to prioritize tasks, understand provider instructions, and know when to seek information or advice.

Equipment Operated:

Standard office equipment, including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment:

Position is in a well-lighted medical office environment.

Occasional evening and weekend work.

Physical Requirements:

Must possess manual dexterity to operate office machines, including computers and calculators.

Stooping, bending to handle files and supplies.

Mobility to complete errands or deliveries.

Includes handling of sharps and chemicals.

Stress can be triggered by multiple staff demands and deadlines.
