The Nursing Care Supervisor (LPN or RN) – MDS Nurse plays a vital role in overseeing nursing operations within a healthcare facility. This position is ideal for those seeking a leadership opportunity that involves training nursing staff and enhancing the care program.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this capacity, you will:
- Coordinate daily nursing activities and care in alignment with the established care plan, collaborating closely with the Director of Nursing and adhering to physician directives and regulatory standards.
- Foster a supportive physical and emotional environment for residents, while actively engaging in the coaching and training of nursing personnel.
- Implement individualized care plans, working in conjunction with physicians, the Director of Nursing Services, and other clinical team members to meet the unique needs of each resident.
- Monitor staff assignments, providing guidance, training, and constructive feedback to ensure effective management of clinical team members, including licensed practical nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA).
- Timely escalate relevant information to the Registered Nurse (RN) or Director of Nursing Services (DNS).
- Assist with the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring that all resident care documentation is current and compliant with policies and procedures.
- Gather necessary information and aid in the completion of MDS assessments and related documentation for each resident.
- Participate in resident care conferences and, under the supervision of the RN or DNS, evaluate the interdisciplinary care plan for each resident.
Applicants must have:
- A degree from an accredited nursing program, either an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of one year of experience in geriatric nursing, including familiarity with medication administration and pharmacy operations.
- At least one year of supervisory or management experience, preferably with exposure to budgeting, staff development, training, and scheduling.
