Industrial Maintenance Lead

Location: Hazel Park, MI

Employment Type: Full-Time/Direct with a leading automotive assembly supplier

Shift: 1st Shift

Compensation: Salary plus overtime

Average Work Hours: 55 hours per week

Experience Requirements:

Seeking candidates with a robust background in multi-skilled industrial equipment repair within an automotive setting, ideally possessing 3-5 years of relevant experience, including 1-3 years in a supervisory capacity. A strong foundation in PLC systems, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic design and repair, is essential. Proven expertise in mechanical, electrical, and industrial fabrication is required.

Educational Background:

An Associate's Degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Position Overview:

This role is pivotal in executing a wide range of tasks to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment, adhering to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance protocols. The position is crucial for achieving the organization's operational goals and objectives as outlined by the Maintenance Manager. The Industrial Maintenance Lead will oversee all technical and mechanical operations within the plant, as well as any necessary building and grounds maintenance, while leading a team of skilled technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of a hands-on supervisory role focused on preventative maintenance and the enhancement of plant equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance technicians, fostering their development through effective training, coaching, and mentoring, while addressing performance and behavioral issues as they arise.
  • Serve as the technical authority for the assigned shift, diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues related to PLCs, conveyors, and various machine maintenance aspects including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Enhance and maintain the preventive maintenance program continuously.
  • Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to execute necessary maintenance and service tasks.
  • Identify problems, replace or repair components, conduct tests, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Provide support to plant technical staff during their absences.
  • Exhibit leadership skills to foster consensus among team members at all levels and be prepared to step in for the Maintenance Manager when required.
  • Research, design, and implement innovative technologies to enhance equipment performance and quality for customers.
  • Support plant maintenance in a 24/7 operational environment, with flexibility in scheduling as needed, including potential weekend work.
  • Complete special assignments as designated by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Manage the installation of equipment as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Production and other departments as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding proprietary business information.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to push, pull, and carry, coordination, arm/hand steadiness, color vision, near vision, working in confined spaces, using ladders, and dexterity.
