Patient Service Representative

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Intermountain Health. As a Patient Service Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Greets patients, answers phones, takes messages, and provides necessary information while documenting all interactions accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Schedules patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and consultations.
- Registers patients, confirms, enters, and/or updates demographic data on registration systems, and follows procedures when identifying patients.
- Obtains copies of insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures on required forms, verifies information, and determines insurance coordination of benefits and pre-certification/prior-authorization.
- Collects patient payments, provides accurate receipts, and posts payments in the system.
- Maintains department and/or individual work queues and reports as required.
- Prepares medical records for patient appointments by compiling information from various sources, including authorizations and non-Epic documentation.
- One year of customer service experience involving interactions with customers in person and by phone.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills and data entry.
- High school diploma or GED.
Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing. Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands. See and read computer monitors and documents. Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment. May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
