Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to join the Clinical Sciences department in support of the Equine Performance Clinic.

Job Summary:

The Equine Performance Clinic provides clinical service to equine patients and conducts research into problems affecting the horse as an athlete. As a Licensed Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the clinic's mission by providing high-level technical support to faculty engaged in teaching and research activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and record-keeping of treadmill use and maintenance
  • Coordinate and order laboratory supplies, equipment, and maintenance
  • Daily care of experimental animals, including bandaging, physical examination, and administration of drugs
  • Conditioning of experimental animals for exercising on the treadmill
  • Provide technical support to faculty in large animal teaching and research activities
  • Coordinate large animal surgery and medicine courses, including budget management and scheduling
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology with up to one year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • NYS Licensure or eligibility to be licensed
  • Proficient in equine handling
  • Technical knowledge and skills necessary to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and manage the lab
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and meticulous lab technique and data entry
  • Computer proficiency and strong communication skills
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing
