Job Title: Licensed Veterinary Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to our faculty and staff in the Clinical Sciences department, with a focus on the Equine Performance Clinic.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Scheduling and record-keeping of treadmill use and maintenance
  • Providing instruction to users to ensure safe treadmill operation
  • Coordinate and order laboratory supplies, equipment, and maintenance
  • Daily care of experimental animals, including bandaging, physical examination, and administration of drugs
  • Conditioning of experimental animals for exercising on the treadmill
  • Providing high-level technical support to faculty engaged in large animal teaching and research activities
  • Coordinate the large animal surgery and medicine courses, including budget management and scheduling
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology with up to one year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • NYS Licensure or eligibility to be licensed
  • Proficient in equine handling
  • Possess the technical knowledge and skills necessary to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and manage the lab
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and meticulous lab technique and data entry are required
  • Computer proficiency and strong communication skills
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing
