About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Civil Structural Engineer to join our team at J.S. Held LLC. As a key member of our advisory team, you will be responsible for conducting forensic investigations, providing consultation, and preparing technical papers. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping our clients navigate complex situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field observations, testing, and data collection to identify causes of damage or failure.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining your findings, research, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with building departments to determine repair directives and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop and present technical topics for publication, showcasing your expertise and thought leadership.
  • Engage in client relations, marketing, and business development to promote our services and build strong relationships with clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a forensic engineer, with a strong background in civil structural engineering.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Testimony experience as a designated expert witness.
  • Experience in engineering design or construction.
  • Experience conducting damage assessments and forensic investigations.
  • Storm damage and building envelope evaluation experience.
