Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at AltaPointe Health. As an Outpatient RN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the completion of patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and provide education to patients and their families
  • Monitor patients for potential side effects and report findings to physicians
  • Provide direct patient care, evaluate outcomes, and consult with specialists as needed
  • Accurately assign triage categories and maintain accurate nursing documentation
  • Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals
  • Perform ancillary testing and tasks as ordered by physicians
  • Administer injections and treatments, and perform routine laboratory tests
  • Provide support for medical assistants and ensure conformance with established standards and procedural requirements
  • Respond to patient requests for medication refills and interface with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Monitor laboratory results and report abnormal findings to physicians
  • Provide emergency care as needed, according to AltaPointe Health Policy and Procedures
  • Demonstrate the ability to recognize crisis situations and deescalate or resolve them
  • Participate in general and medical staff meetings as required
  • Educate patients and the community on health issues to increase health literacy
  • May conduct infection control for staff and patients as needed
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Alabama
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Knowledge of adult/geriatric and child/adolescent specialty, to be attained within six months of employment
  • Demonstration of safe medication administration practices
  • Knowledge of general nursing care, psychiatric disorders, and medical terminology
  • Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration
  • Basic knowledge of appropriate educational methods and behavioral, psychological, physical health, and social effects of psychoactive drugs
Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this role include frequent standing, sitting, squatting, and fine manipulation. Lifting weights up to 1-5 pounds is also required.
