Mobile Medical Practice Assistant

Overview:
The Medical/Practice Assistant (MA/PA) plays a crucial role within the healthcare team, responsible for delivering patient care as directed by licensed healthcare providers. This position involves both direct and indirect patient interactions, health maintenance, educational support, and collaborative care planning, all while adhering to professional standards and training.

- Accept and execute patient care assignments within the scope of training and current practice standards, collaborating with licensed providers to gather essential data for care assessment and planning.

- Accurately measure vital signs, gather health status information, administer care as directed, and document findings in the electronic health record.
- Conduct routine diagnostic tests, including electrocardiograms and specimen collection for laboratory analysis.
- Engage in team-based care initiatives and patient education efforts, reinforcing instructions provided by licensed healthcare providers.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
- Assist in patient telephone screenings and provide guidance as directed by licensed providers.
- Support prescription management tasks, including processing new prescriptions and renewals, and conducting medication reconciliation.
- Follow established clinical guidelines to initiate orders for necessary diagnostic tests and treatments.
- Perform various operational tasks that enhance unit efficiency, including room preparation and scheduling duties.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage incoming calls and direct them appropriately.
- Schedule and register patients for appointments, ensuring all necessary information is collected and prepared for visits.
- Welcome patients upon arrival, verify their information, and ensure completion of required documentation.
- Oversee billing processes, including collection and reconciliation of co-payments.
- Assist with special projects and staff training as needed.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Utilize organizational resources effectively, managing time and supplies efficiently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Certificate Program is preferred.
- Prior experience in a healthcare environment is advantageous.
Required Skills:
- Understanding of medical practice operations and standards.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to accurately assess vital signs and gather relevant health information.
- Experience with medication reconciliation and prescription management processes.
- Proficiency in performing specific clinical procedures as needed.
