Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant - Research will provide research clinical support and care in a research setting. This role involves extensive interaction with diverse populations, including research study teams, study participants, medical staff, and medical center personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of research support activities, including vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, and monitoring study participants.
  • Assist during routine procedures and take complete and accurate information from participants.
  • Provide participants with relevant instructions for specific tests and procedures.
  • Schedule follow-up tests and appointments using hospital or Clinical Research Center (CRC) systems.
  • Collaborate with RN on executing a participant's care plan.
  • Maintain the safety of participants who have been identified at risk for preventable injury.
  • Escort participants to ancillary service areas as needed.
  • Perform other support activities as requested by managers or clinical providers.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certificate in Basic Life Support required or must obtain BLS within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
  • At least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Healthcare related field.
  • Phlebotomy certificate.

  • Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are routine and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Independence of Action: Ability to follow general instructions and procedures as provided.

  • Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff and patients.
  • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts and practices.
  • Team Work: Ability to interact respectfully with other employees and professional staff.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients and staff.
