Job Overview

Position: Mobile Market Food Truck Manager

Reports to: Director of Nutrition Education, Partnerships & Warehouse Operations

Position Type: Full Time

The YMCA of Greater Boston is a key collaborator with the Greater Boston Food Bank, managing a Grocery Bag Distribution Program that delivers over 4,500 grocery bags weekly to numerous partners throughout the city.

A new Mobile Market initiative is set to launch, aimed at providing communities with daily access to food choices and personalized selections.

The YMCA also collaborates with the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) to provide SNAP-Education and Nutritional Education across all distribution centers in the city, working alongside the Massachusetts Alliance of Ys and various partners to assess the effectiveness of all operations.

Annually, pantry meals will exceed 3 million in total deliveries.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with individuals from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, religious, sexual, and generational backgrounds.
  • Capability to identify, cultivate, and evaluate partnerships that address the specific needs of families and communities.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Exchange, and Outlook; familiarity with spreadsheet software such as Excel; experience with online reporting systems for data entry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certifications in Serve Safe, CPR, First Aid, and other program-specific training required upon or after hire.
Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to manipulate objects, and communicate effectively. The employee frequently sits and reaches with hands and arms. The role may require occasional lifting or moving of items.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the complete operation of the Mobile Market Food Truck.
  • Receive training on the Greater Boston Food Bank SWAP method.
  • Implement the SWAP method at Mobile Market Food Truck locations.
  • Drive the Mobile Market Food Truck.
  • Load, set up, and dismantle the Mobile Market Food Truck.
  • Coordinate with the SNAP-Ed Team of Dietitians and Nutritionists to arrange SNAP-Ed nutrition lessons and cooking demonstrations at various sites.
  • Manage market site operations and participant safety.
  • Monitor inventory and track the distribution of items.
  • Supervise the Mobile Market Food Truck Operations Assistant.
