Job Overview

Position: Mobile Market Food Truck Manager

Reports to: Director of Nutrition Education, Partnerships & Warehouse Operations

Position Type: Full Time

The YMCA of Greater Boston is a key collaborator with the Greater Boston Food Bank, managing a Grocery Bag Distribution Program that efficiently packages and distributes over 4,500 grocery bags weekly to numerous partners throughout the city.

A new Mobile Market initiative is set to launch, aiming to provide daily food options and personalized selections for communities. This program is designed to enhance food accessibility and nutritional education.

The YMCA also collaborates with the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) to deliver SNAP-Education and Nutritional Education across all distribution centers in the area, working alongside various partners to assess the effectiveness of these operations.

Essential Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse populations across various backgrounds.
  • Proficient in identifying and cultivating partnerships that address community needs.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Exchange, and Outlook; experience with spreadsheet software such as Excel; familiarity with online reporting systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Certification in Serve Safe, CPR, First Aid, and other relevant program-specific training required upon or after hire.

Physical Requirements:

In this role, the employee will frequently stand, walk, and utilize hands for various tasks. The position may require occasional lifting and moving of items. Specific vision capabilities required include close and distance vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the complete operation of the Mobile Market Food Truck.
  • Receive training on the Greater Boston Food Bank's SWAP method.
  • Implement the SWAP method at Mobile Market Food Truck locations.
  • Drive the Mobile Market Food Truck.
  • Load, set up, and dismantle the Mobile Market Food Truck.
  • Collaborate with the SNAP-Ed Team, including Dietitians and Nutritionists, to arrange nutrition lessons and cooking demonstrations.
  • Manage the market site and participants to ensure a smooth and safe operation.
  • Monitor inventory and track the distribution of items.
  • Supervise the Mobile Market Food Truck Operations Assistant.
