Position Overview:

The Financial Controller is tasked with cultivating an environment that aligns with the hospital's mission, ensuring that goals are met or surpassed. This role involves guiding direct report staff, holding them accountable for their performance, and driving continuous improvement within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Authorize hospital expenditures in line with established policies.
  • Conduct monthly financial assessments and manage expenses.
  • Prepare necessary state financial documentation.
  • Develop annual financial and capital budgets.
  • Review accounts receivable on a daily basis.
  • Compile monthly financial reports for corporate submission.
  • Assist departments in monitoring labor efficiency.
  • Provide weekly financial forecasts.
  • Generate reports as requested by executive leadership.
  • Oversee internal controls and audits within the hospital.
  • Prepare cost report documentation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare regulations.
  • Implement strategies for operational effectiveness.
  • Engage in hospital governance and partnership discussions as necessary.
  • Organize and manage time effectively to fulfill assignments.
  • Meet role requirements and execute essential functions.
  • Complete mandatory training and educational courses by deadlines.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a reputable institution (CPA preferred but not mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership capacity within a healthcare setting is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of hospital financial operations, including revenue cycle management and financial reporting standards.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in financial software and systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
