Position Overview:

The Controller plays a pivotal role in fostering an environment that enables the hospital to achieve its mission. This includes meeting or exceeding operational goals, communicating the hospital's mission to direct reports, ensuring accountability for performance, and motivating staff to enhance their performance. The Controller is also responsible for overseeing departmental operations, performance measurement, assessment, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Authorize hospital expenditures in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Conduct monthly financial reviews and manage expenses effectively.
  • Prepare required state financial reports.
  • Develop annual financial and capital budgets.
  • Monitor hospital accounts receivable on a daily basis.
  • Compile monthly financial packages for corporate submission.
  • Assist departments in tracking labor productivity.
  • Generate weekly financial forecasts.
  • Prepare reports as requested by executive leadership and corporate teams.
  • Ensure robust internal controls and compliance with audits.
  • Complete cost report packages as necessary.
  • Monitor adherence to Medicare regulations.
  • Implement plans to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Participate in governing bodies and partnership boards as required.
  • Organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Fulfill position requirements and perform essential functions.
  • Complete mandatory training and courses by specified deadlines.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a reputable university (CPA preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar financial leadership role within a healthcare organization is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of hospital financial operations, including revenue cycle management and financial reporting.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in financial software and systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
