Position Summary:

Personal Care Assistants offer essential support to individuals in their residences and communities who require help with daily living activities due to aging, illness, disability, or other conditions. The role encompasses various tasks including light housekeeping, meal preparation, transportation, companionship, and guidance on nutrition and household management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients.
  • Engage in conversations, share experiences, and participate in recreational activities.
  • Facilitate communication between clients and their families or friends.
  • Assist clients with transportation to appointments and errands.
  • Accompany clients to social and recreational events.
  • Help organize outings and visits.
  • Assist in writing correspondence and managing mail.
  • Plan and coordinate trips, potentially traveling with clients.
  • Support clients with meal planning and preparation.
  • Perform light cleaning and housekeeping tasks.
  • Contribute to the Care Team by offering insights and suggestions.
  • Ensure services comply with agency policies and industry standards.
  • Monitor and manage supplies and resources.
  • Evaluate service delivery and provide recommendations as needed.
  • Follow established care plans.
  • Assist with client mobility as assessed and appropriate.
  • Complete assigned tasks from the Supervisor.
  • Observe and report on client conditions to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities and service hours.
  • Foster positive working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Assist with pet care as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with Supervisors and team members.
  • Participate in training sessions and staff meetings.

Essential Knowledge:

  • Understanding of home management practices.
  • Familiarity with client service principles and quality standards.
  • Proficiency in the English language.
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR techniques.
  • Experience with clerical tasks, including record-keeping.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a caregiver.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Appropriate vehicle insurance.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Negative TB test result.
  • Fingerprint clearance.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a related field may be required.
  • Understanding of diverse social and cultural backgrounds may be beneficial.
