We have multiple openings for an IT Project Manager II.

This position is classified as Statutory Exempt and is not subject to the State Human Resources Act.

The Project Management Office (PMO) was established to deliver statewide technological solutions for state and local entities in North Carolina. The IT Project Manager II will oversee IT initiatives for various State agencies and play a crucial role in empowering our clients to positively impact the lives of North Carolinians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading, organizing, directing, and managing medium to large-scale IT programs/projects, ensuring their success in terms of schedule, budget, quality, and deliverables.
  • Providing both technical and business acumen to guarantee projects are well-planned, effectively monitored, and executed in alignment with statewide and DIT standards, completed on schedule, within budget, and delivering the anticipated quality and business outcomes.
  • Supervising project team members to optimize the use of time and resources to achieve defined project/program objectives and deliverables.

The organization serves as the Technology Center for the State of North Carolina. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Competencies

To qualify for this position, applicants must demonstrate that they possess ALL of the following:
  • PMI Certification.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing technical projects, utilizing quality assurance practices to ensure timely, budget-compliant implementation with expected results and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with Project Management processes, documentation, and IT standards (e.g., ITIL, ISO, PMBOK).
  • Experience in detailed planning, project testing, and risk assessment with corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in project management software and methodologies (e.g., Predictive Cost Modeling, Knowledge Plan, Risk Assessment and Management Process).
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related IT field, Business Administration, Project Management, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution, along with four years of experience in IT project management or related technical project management roles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
