Brooklyn Heights Montessori School (BHMS) is dedicated to providing a robust and holistic educational experience grounded in the principles of Maria Montessori for children from two years to eighth grade. Role: Early Childhood Lead Teacher (PreK-K)

The Early Childhood Lead Teacher is a full-time, 10-month role that collaborates closely with Early Childhood Associate/Assistant Teachers, the Director of Early Childhood Programs, and the broader educational team to nurture and support young learners in alignment with Montessori philosophy and the school’s mission and curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional care and educational instruction to students, ensuring a safe and enriching learning environment.
  • Engage with parents in partnership with the Associate/Assistant Teacher.
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum and Montessori principles.
  • Maintain an organized and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Document and maintain student records, including attendance and academic progress.
  • Lead parent-teacher conferences and participate in school events and meetings.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Faculty & Staff Handbook.
  • Exemplify the values articulated in the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School Mission Statement and Diversity Statement.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by school leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred.
  • AMS/MACTE Approved Early Childhood Montessori teaching credential is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience is essential.
