Job Overview

Position Summary: The Engineering Manager at Sigma Engineered Solutions is responsible for spearheading new project initiatives, ensuring the efficient management of design quotations, monitoring die production, and facilitating the transition to manufacturing. This role is crucial for meeting customer delivery timelines, maintaining high-quality standards, and achieving Sigma's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Die Design & Development: Employ CAD tools and simulation software to design and enhance die configurations. Develop tooling for various manufacturing processes including swaging, bending, shearing, and embossing. Apply mathematical principles such as geometry and algebra to support tooling design and operational calculations.
  • Process Enhancement: Stay updated on industry innovations in die design and manufacturing, integrating best practices into operational workflows.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Create comprehensive documentation including design specifications, procedural guidelines, and testing reports.
  • Strategic Planning: Engage in Sigma's budgeting processes, providing insights on financial allocations for the engineering team.
  • Compliance Oversight: Manage daily operations to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures within Sigma Engineered Solutions.
  • Resource Management: Collaborate with various departments to optimize resource distribution, ensuring effective project execution.
  • Project Management: Assess new project requirements and prepare precise cost estimates, taking into account time, labor, materials, and machinery.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the PPAP approval process, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and complete prior to production commencement.
  • Supplier Coordination: Liaise with international vendors for tooling acquisition, assembly, and production tasks.
  • Team Leadership: Establish performance goals for team members, conduct evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback and mentorship.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience (15 years in a related field).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role, demonstrating effective leadership capabilities.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with robust project management expertise.
  • Ability to work autonomously and complete tasks within established guidelines and routines.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure while meeting deadlines, maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Physical ability to lift up to 15 pounds and to engage in prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
