Position Summary

As the Lead Software Engineer - Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational excellence of the FreeWheel platforms. Your responsibilities will encompass managing availability, performance, and efficiency, while also overseeing change management, monitoring, and capacity planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the reliability and technical operations of the FreeWheel TV Platform Ad-Serving components.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance the reliability, quality, and efficiency of FreeWheel platforms.
  • Engage in complex analytical tasks related to the planning, deployment, testing, and evaluation of FreeWheel products.
  • Utilize your in-depth knowledge of FreeWheel platforms and infrastructure to support critical live events.
  • Collaborate closely with developers and technical leads to ensure effective software release cycles.
  • Lead the design and implementation of infrastructure as code, adhering to best practices and quality assurance standards.
  • Dedicate approximately 30% of your time to developing tools using Python or Golang for Continuous Delivery and Infrastructure Scaling.
  • Implement technical solutions for infrastructure and application management with a focus on standardization and automation.
  • Provide expertise in debugging and resolving escalated issues.
  • Participate in on-call shifts, incident prevention, and response.
  • Advocate for best practices in engineering and technical operations.
  • Partner with developers and vendors to drive improvements in production quality and operational efficiency.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives including patching and vulnerability management.
  • Offer training and mentorship to junior SRE team members.
  • Exercise independent judgment in significant matters.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and be available for variable schedules, including nights and weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Golang, or JavaScript.
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical operations for business-critical applications on public cloud services.
  • Experience with SDLC tools including Containers, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
  • Strong background in Linux administration and network security.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting business-critical services prior to launch.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in specific product areas.
  • Prior experience in providing technical solutions in an internet company environment.
