Position Summary

The Student Information Systems Analyst (SISA), reporting to the Managing Director of Academics, plays a vital role in collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that our information systems and educational technology platforms maintain a high standard of excellence. The SISA is responsible for equipping users at different levels with the necessary resources, knowledge, and tools to navigate these systems efficiently. This role will focus significantly on systems and functions related to grading, credits, report cards, graduation plans, and transcripts.

Core Responsibilities

Management of Data Systems & Policies

  • Collaborate closely with the Regional Managing Director of Operations to co-manage our student information systems (currently utilizing PowerSchool), emphasizing functionalities related to grade books, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts.
  • Partner with the Managing Director of Academics to oversee and maintain essential student data and various educational technology systems that integrate with our student information system (including Mosaic, Clever, Illuminate, DeansList, etc.).
  • Work in conjunction with our contracted Tech Support team and vendors to ensure seamless connections between systems and to establish/maintain both automatic and ad-hoc account provisioning.
  • Conduct audits of information, rectify errors, and empower users with the skills necessary to prevent future discrepancies.
  • Develop and document the policies, practices, protocols, and systems established for the SIS to ensure consistent and accurate operations moving forward.

Reporting Duties

  • Coordinate with school teams and vendors to guarantee that accurate, clear, and actionable report cards, data sheets, progress reports, and transcripts are generated and disseminated promptly.
  • Support the management, development, and enhancement of key reports for staff that facilitate effective monitoring of grades and graduation plan progress.

Analytical Responsibilities

  • Monitor key metrics related to grades, GPAs, credit acquisition, and graduation progress, reporting significant changes or trends.
  • Summarize key findings in clear language tailored to the intended audience.
  • Translate data into relevant insights and implications.
  • Assist colleagues in interpreting findings.

Training & Support Initiatives

  • Train school leaders, teachers, office managers, and other staff on the efficient use of SIS functions and reporting tools related to grade books, credits, graduation plans, report cards, and transcripts.
  • Engage with key constituent groups (leaders, teachers, operations staff, parents, and students) to understand their experiences, gather feedback, and prioritize enhancements to system functions, reports, and training.
  • Manage relevant support requests and communicate best practices and solutions to common challenges across school sites.
  • Create reference tools and resources to support ongoing training and professional development.

Additional Responsibilities

  • In light of the rapidly evolving educational technology landscape, additional responsibilities will be integrated into this role as necessary to meet the needs of our students, teachers, and schools.

Experience managing and auditing data quality as a database administrator. Experience writing and executing SQL queries for data manipulation. Experience with educational technology platforms. Experience using Student Information Systems (such as PowerSchool) and/or Customer Relationship Management software (such as Salesforce).
