Staff Nurse, Correctional Health Services Manager

We are seeking a skilled Staff Nurse, specialized in correctional health services management, to join our team at NYC Health + Hospitals. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to make a positive impact on the lives of patients and contribute to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
About the Role:- This position involves providing expert nursing care to adult males and females between 16 and 80 years old, as well as infants from birth to one year of age.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse and hold a valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership traits are essential, with a strong focus on decision-making ability, communication, priority-setting, and interpersonal relationships.
In this role, you will be responsible for directing and administering nursing care to patients, coordinating activities through collaboration with physicians, administration, pharmacy, clerical, and correctional staff, and ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures of NYC Health & Hospitals and the Correctional Health Services Department of Nursing.
Responsibilities:- Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.
- Administer local, inhalation, intravenous, and other medications as ordered.
- Provide direct patient care, including conducting specified laboratory tests, and directing and supervising less-skilled nursing/health care personnel.
- Ensure continuity of care on other shifts through written and/or verbal communication.
- Collaborate with the ADON to orient new staff, evaluate their performance, and provide recommendations.
This is a per diem position, and the selected candidate is required to work at least one shift each week. Please note that all qualified applicants must have a valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse and hold a certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
