Correctional Health Services Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

NYC Health + Hospitals/Correctional Health Services seeks a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join its team. This position requires providing high-quality, team-based psychiatric services, including psychopharmacologic interventions, for individuals incarcerated in the New York City jail system.
About the Opportunity:
The successful candidate will work closely with multiple disciplines, including security staff, and participate in creating individualized treatment plans after discussing cases with the mental health care team. They will also evaluate patients for the need for higher levels of care, including hospitalization and escalation to specialized services.

We offer comprehensive and unique treatment modalities, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, creative arts programming, outpatient-level clinics, substance use treatment, integrated re-entry services, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city.
About the Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must have a valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, as well as certification as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the New York State Department of Education and a current certificate issued by the State Education Department to prescribe medication. Experience working in correctional settings is not required, but the ability to work closely and effectively with multiple other disciplines is critical.
