Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Housing Specialist to join our team at Special Service for Groups, Inc- HOPICS. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive housing network, providing linkages to private owners, landlords, and property management companies in Southern California.

Key Responsibilities
  • Housing Network Development: Establish and maintain relationships with landlords and property management companies to create a viable housing stock list.
  • Housing Placement Services: Coordinate housing placement services and assist clients with a successful transition to stay housed.
  • Client Services: Maintain accurate documentation of service to clients in HMIS/Clarity and provide support to clients in need.
  • Community Outreach: Develop working relationships with other agencies whose services will be beneficial to clients and participate in community events to promote our services.
  • Reporting and Evaluation: Prepare project reports in accordance with funding requirements and maintain files/records on client services in compliance with HIPAA and other funding requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in human services, business, marketing, communications, administration, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of job-related experience in housing placement services and relationship building with landlords and property management companies.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database programs; accurate and concise documentation; neat and professional appearance; attention to detail and punctuality.
Working Conditions

The Housing Specialist will spend half of their workweek in the field, conducting outreach and developing relationships with landlords and property owners. The position requires reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. The individual must be able to handle constant distractions, interruptions, and uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules.
