Position Overview

As a Senior Underwriter, your primary responsibilities will include developing a robust portfolio, mentoring junior underwriters, and overseeing underwriting assistants.

Your role will predominantly involve evaluating and underwriting a portfolio valued between $25-40 million in Commercial Lines. This includes assessing risk acceptability, determining pricing, adhering to underwriting guidelines, fostering positive relationships with agencies in your designated territories, auditing underwriting files, and enhancing underwriting processes.

Beyond underwriting, you will take on a managerial role, guiding a team of Underwriters and Underwriter Trainees through active coaching and engagement to enhance their skills and competencies.

You will collaborate with department AVPs and the Head of MMB to proactively devise and present innovative solutions for improving underwriting frameworks and product offerings.

Key Responsibilities
The essential duties of this role include:
- Underwriting a portfolio with a Gross Written Premium of $25-40 million.
- Assisting the Head of MMB in managing underwriting operations.
- Collaborating with various business units (Claims, Compliance, Operations) to prioritize initiatives, enhance efficiencies, and implement best practices for optimal underwriting and business performance.
- Leading a team of underwriters and underwriting assistants.

- Professional insurance designations are advantageous.
