Position Overview

The Commercial Lines Marketing Account Manager will spearhead and orchestrate marketing and service initiatives for both new and renewal business, while also providing support to the Producer in sales endeavors. A comprehensive understanding of relevant coverages, carrier protocols, alternative funding options, underwriting practices, and regulatory changes is essential. The role involves cultivating and enhancing relationships with clients, carrier representatives, and team members.

Key Responsibilities

The following outlines the primary responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:

  • Act as a consultative liaison for clients; discern and address client requirements while offering recommendations with sound justification, requiring minimal oversight from the Producer.
  • Support the Producer in sales activities, including responding to Requests for Proposals, engaging in prospect meetings, and promoting additional lines and endorsements that improve coverage and fulfill client needs.
  • Lead mid-year reviews and annual stewardship meetings effectively.
  • Establish and nurture key relationships with clients and carriers through various communication channels, including phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Develop a solid understanding of the current market landscape and the ability to provide alternative risk transfer solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with local and national leadership to advance Line of Business strategies and initiatives, while advocating for and implementing best practices.
  • Exhibit strong negotiation skills in pricing and policy terms with selected carriers, determining the most suitable carrier(s) for clients within marketing parameters.
  • Assist the Producer and Account Manager in gathering client information.
  • Analyze and recommend coverage needs to the Producer and client, aid in formulating initial marketing and renewal strategies, and oversee the execution of these strategies in collaboration with Account Managers and other team members, including direct communication with carrier underwriters.
  • Manage the renewal process and prepare necessary company applications and submissions to appropriate markets.
  • Support the Producer in presenting coverage and renewal recommendations to clients.
  • Assist clients and team members with service inquiries related to administration, billing, claims, and problem resolution as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Account Manager to schedule and conduct team meetings.
  • Utilize client management systems and relevant technology platforms effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to service team procedures, maintaining accurate documentation and premium amounts, and assist in the collection of premium payments.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager and Client Service Specialist to effectively resolve workflow challenges.
  • Participate in seminars, training sessions, and carrier meetings to stay informed about new products and legislative changes.
  • Mentor and train other account service team members, demonstrating strong interpersonal and professional relationship-building skills.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of six years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • Possession of an appropriate insurance license (Property & Casualty).
  • Extensive knowledge of market dynamics, policies, and coverage issues across various states and industries.
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively plan and prioritize team tasks and oversee workflow applications and procedures.
  • Leadership capabilities with a focus on service and team orientation to guide, motivate, and develop team members, enhancing productivity and morale.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive business relationships with clients, market contacts, and McGriff colleagues.
  • Strong persuasive abilities and tact to gather information, negotiate with markets, secure commitments or payments, and inspire staff.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills to analyze client data, assess proposal competitiveness, and resolve client, market, and employee relations issues.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel overnight as required.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degrees.
  • Additional insurance industry certifications beyond the necessary licenses.
  • Significant experience in leading teams and/or projects.
