Commercial Lines Marketing Account Manager

Position Overview
The Commercial Lines Marketing Account Manager will spearhead and synchronize marketing and service initiatives for both new and renewal business while providing essential support to the Producer in sales endeavors. A comprehensive understanding of relevant coverages, carrier protocols, alternative funding options, underwriting standards, and legislative updates is crucial. The role involves cultivating and enhancing relationships with clients, carrier representatives, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Act as a consultative liaison for clients; assess and comprehend client requirements, offering recommendations with justifications with minimal oversight from the Producer.
- Support the Producer in sales activities, including responding to Requests for Proposals, engaging in prospect meetings, and promoting additional lines and endorsements that enhance coverage to meet client needs.
- Capable of leading mid-year reviews and annual stewardship meetings.
- Establish and nurture vital client and carrier relationships through phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
- Develop a solid understanding of the current market landscape and capabilities for risk transfer alternatives.
- Collaborate closely with local and national leadership to advance Line of Business strategies and initiatives while promoting best practices.
- Exhibit strong negotiation skills for pricing, where applicable, and policy conditions with selected carriers, determining the most suitable carrier(s) for clients within marketing guidelines.
- Assist the Producer and Account Manager in gathering client information.
- Provide analysis and recommendations regarding coverage needs to the Producer and client, aid the Producer in formulating initial marketing and renewal strategies, and lead the execution of these strategies, collaborating with Account Managers and other team members while directly communicating with carrier underwriters and representatives.
- Oversee the renewal process and prepare company applications and submissions to appropriate markets.
- Assist the Producer in presenting coverage and renewal recommendations to clients.
- Support assigned clients and team members with service inquiries related to administration, billing, claims issues, and problem resolution, as needed.
- Work with the Account Manager to schedule and conduct team meetings.
- Understand and utilize client management systems and other relevant technology platforms.
- Ensure that service team procedures are appropriate and adhered to, maintaining accurate documentation and premium amounts, and assist in the collection of premium payments.
- In collaboration with the Account Manager and Client Service Specialist, effectively address workflow challenges.
- Participate in seminars, classes, and carrier meetings to stay informed about new products available for clients and to gain expertise in legislative changes.
- Lead, mentor, and train other account service team members, demonstrating strong interpersonal and professional relationship-building skills.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and/or relevant experience.
- Six years of pertinent experience in the insurance industry.
- Valid insurance license (Property & Casualty).
- Extensive knowledge of markets, policies, and coverage issues across all states and industries served.
- Organizational skills to plan and prioritize team workloads and oversee the application of workflows and procedures.
- Leadership skills and a service-oriented mindset to provide direction, constructive feedback, and development to team members, maximizing productivity and morale.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive business relationships with clients, market contacts, and McGriff colleagues.
- Effective persuasion skills and tact to gather information, negotiate with markets, secure commitments or payments, and motivate staff.
- Discretion and problem-solving abilities to analyze client information, assess proposal competitiveness, and resolve client, market, and employee relations issues.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel overnight as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional advanced degrees.
- Insurance industry certifications beyond the necessary licenses.
- Significant experience in leading teams and/or projects.
