About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Engineer IV to join our team at General Atomics, a leading provider of high-technology systems development. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for conducting safety analyses and developing solutions to satisfy safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Analysis and Development: Conduct safety analyses for systems and components, and develop safety program plans based on knowledge of MIL-STD-882E.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with all levels of program and engineering staff on design, integration, and test matters, and support other teams/disciplines as necessary.
  • Program Design and Readiness: Support program design and readiness reviews, and ensure that all safety requirements are met.
  • Engineering Systems and Documentation: Support the operation of engineering systems, and document any problems or issues that arise.
  • Technical Presentations and Reporting: Provide documentation and make technical presentations as required, and may represent the organization as the prime technical contact on small contracts or single component projects.
  • Customer Interface: Interface with customers during program shaping, ConOps development, and requirements derivation activities.
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide direction to design or technical staff, and may lead a team of moderately experienced professional staff.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance: Maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information, and observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
