As an Engineering Technician IV, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to electrical and amphibious ship controls, including constructing components, subunits, and simple models, troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions, and conducting various tests and experiments.
Key Responsibilities- Constructing components, subunits, and simple models or adapting standard equipment
- Troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions
- Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment
- Conducting various tests or experiments, which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures, as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data
- Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation
- Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information
- Secret clearance or ability to obtain clearance
- Preferred qualifications: Electrical and Amphibious Ship Controls experience, including cabling, power and lighting circuits and distribution, marine electrical systems, automatic bus transfer switches, transformers, SSDG and MPDE controls, generators, electrical/digital/hydraulic governor control systems, synchronizer controls, 400 Hz converters, degaussing systems, propulsion generators, motors, auxiliary propulsion motors, hybrid electric drive systems, battery chargers, power supplies, line voltage regulators, UPS and batteries, switch gear, motor generator sets, machinery control systems on DDG1000, LPD17 and LSD47, ballast/deballast control systems on LPD17, LSD47, LHD1 and LHD8, and all associated system controllers that require electrical monitoring
- Desired training, licenses, and certifications: IR Survey Level 1 Technician, IR Survey Level 2 Technician, Marine Electric Propulsion/High Voltage Electrical Safety training by MEBA
