About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Lead to join our team at Spire Inc. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in driving our sustainability initiatives and ensuring we meet our environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis

Collect and evaluate data for measurement, tracking, and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions from all Spire business operations. This includes emissions modeling, quantification, and forecasting, as well as validation and verification according to recognized standards.

Expertise and Guidance

Provide expertise to functional and business unit leadership to identify opportunities for emissions reductions. Measure and report emissions reductions and assist business units in implementing mitigation strategies.

Offsetting Emissions

Identify and develop opportunities for Spire functional and business unit leadership to offset emissions from operations. Provide guidance and assistance to functional and business unit leadership to implement targeted opportunities.

Inventory Reporting

Establish and administer processes for Corporate Greenhouse Gas Inventory to meet requirements of internal and external audit processes. Manage GHG inventory reporting to meet standards for management reporting, board reporting, sustainability reporting, and other federal, state, or local reporting, as required.

Collaboration and Communication

Work with functional and business unit leadership to develop data tracking and reporting mechanisms to accommodate current and new reporting streams, as required by management or other regulatory bodies. Administer carbon credits for all business units, including administration of EPA accounts and coordination of business unit activities with carbon credit vendors.

Requirements
  • Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree, required. Graduate degree, preferred. 3-5 years of experience in developing and preparing corporate reporting of emissions and/or offsets. 10+ years progressive experience required, ideally including roles in utility operations, engineering, and/or compliance management or reporting.
