Job Summary

LabCorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Specimen Accessioning team in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specimen Preparation: Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing.
  • Sample Sorting: Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing.
  • Data Entry: Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted and enter patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.
  • Quality Control: Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Specimen Routing: Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
  • Specimen Shipping: Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required.
  • Specimen Storage: Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
  • Problem Resolution: Resolve and document any problem specimens.
  • Waste Management: Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
  • Compliance: Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Instrumentation: Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: No relevant experience is required, but previous medical or production experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficient computer and typing skills, ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment, and sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • Physical Demands: Strong eye-hand coordination, ability to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, high level of attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
