- Dedication to meeting both internal and external customer needs while executing routine responsibilities.
- Willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment and support departmental staffing needs during weekends, holidays, on-call duties, and overtime.
- Tasks must be performed with confidence, precision, and punctuality.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Sorting and organizing specimens
  • Racking specimens for storage
  • Collecting and delivering specimens to the laboratory
  • Storing specimens appropriately (training may be provided for operating sorters in archive mode)
  • Centrifuging samples
  • Aliquoting specimens

Exhibits a willingness to learn the responsibilities assigned to the Specimen Management Specialist and gains insight into how all functions within Technical Operations and Specimen Management interconnect, impacting Technical departments and overall quality.

Identifies issues related to specimen types, missing information, etc., concerning sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage; capable of resolving or escalating information to ensure timely problem resolution.

3.

Demonstrates knowledge of compliance policies regarding test ordering, requiring the ability to research test order information using translation tables, computer systems, and service directories.

4. Achieves quality and production benchmarks within six months of completing training.
5. Completes all necessary documentation clearly, legibly, and within the designated timeframe.
6. Adheres to punctuality and attendance guidelines, supporting departmental performance during coworker absences.
7. Acquires additional skills within Technical Operations and Specimen Management to facilitate timely advancement to the next level.
8. Undertakes other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Requirements:
1. Manages multiple tasks simultaneously in a production setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. A medical background is preferred, including familiarity with medical terminology relevant to clinical laboratories.
3. Previous experience in a production environment is advantageous.
4. Familiarity with mainframe computer systems is preferred.
