Pharmacy Technician I/II-Sterile Compounding Specialist

Duke University is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician I/II-Sterile Compounding professional to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician I/II-Sterile Compounding, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of sterile compounds for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of sterile compounds, including parental nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, hydration, and narcotic analgesics, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Verify prescription labels and compounding documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Calculate and verify compounding instructions for each patient order.
- Disinfect all IV room surfaces with appropriate cleaning solutions prior to and following compounding.
- Consistently follow all gowning, gloving, and handwashing guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Assist the pharmacist with the accurate compounding of intravenous medications according to the principles of strict aseptic technique in compliance with USP Chapter 797 and USP Chapter 800 guidelines.
- Pharmacy Tech I: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program, or acceptance into pharmacy school, or high school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or healthcare-related experience.
- Pharmacy Tech II: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program, or acceptance into pharmacy school, or high school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or healthcare-related experience, and North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration, and Pharmacy Technician certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or The Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT).
