Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - Power Conversion Application

Location: Peoria, IL

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support power conversion application engineering groups in defining application architecture and electrical requirements for power electronics components/systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, experience with product development, and proficiency in CFD & FEA analysis tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead engine design efforts for new NPI programs, including Design Reviews from initial content definition through full Production.
  2. Identify program risks and tradeoffs, providing technical solutions.
  3. Act as the integration point between L5 application and L3 design teams.
  4. Provide technical leadership for NPI, NTI, CPI, and BIQ issue resolution.
  5. Coordinate builds with the factory and address assembly issues.
  6. Evaluate and deploy engine robustness and service interval improvements.
  7. Travel 5-10% to interact with manufacturing or supplier personnel.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in related field plus minimum 10 years experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Mechanical Engineering curriculum plus 5+ years of experience OR
  • Master's or Doctorate degree in a Mechanical Engineering curriculum plus 2+ years of experience

Technical Skills:

  • Previous product development experience (design/analysis)

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with CFD & FEA analysis tools
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical & electrical systems with special emphasis on electric drive systems
  • Experience with quality tools including FMEA, APQP, BIQ & PPAP
  • Experience with NPI Issue resolution process

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through complex assignments
  • Excellent analytical skills
