Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom educators in cultivating a safe and welcoming environment that promotes high expectations for student learning.
  • Implement individualized and community-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions tailored to each student's goals.
  • Monitor and guide students during lessons to ensure adherence to instructional fidelity and support their learning needs.
  • Track and encourage individual student progress, communicating necessary updates to the classroom teacher regarding any interventions required.
  • Manage student behavior by adhering to established policies and applying appropriate disciplinary measures in collaboration with classroom staff.
  • Support students facing academic challenges, providing encouragement and assistance in enhancing their skills across various domains.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student behavior and progress, reporting observations to relevant personnel and making informed recommendations.
  • Participate in meetings with parents, staff, and students to discuss academic needs and progress.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of student information and records at all times.
  • Engage in the accreditation process to ensure compliance with performance standards.
  • Respond positively to feedback and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with successful completion of a basic skills assessment.
  • Preferred: Associate degree or higher in education or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license or ability to obtain one.
  • Preferred: Credential as a paraprofessional, paraeducator, or teaching assistant.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in special education settings, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental challenges.
  • Comfortable driving or accompanying students in a company vehicle.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology, including instructional tools and office software.
