ROLE SUMMARY

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) plays a vital role in supporting the clinical and administrative functions of our health and wellness center. Under the guidance of the healthcare provider and Clinical Operations Manager, the CMA assists in various clinical tasks and ensures smooth operational flow within the center.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Conduct patient interviews and accurately record vital signs, including pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height, and BMI.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as injections, EKGs, urinalysis, blood draws, and other tests as directed by the healthcare provider.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the physician.
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of medical equipment, including Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
  • Prepare examination rooms and patients for clinical assessments.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments.

Administrative Duties:

  • Manage front desk operations, including patient check-in and administrative tasks.
  • Handle phone communications, appointment scheduling, and patient triage.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Oversee inventory management for medical supplies and medications.
  • Follow up with patients regarding missed appointments and coordinate external referrals.
  • Assist with patient engagement initiatives under the direction of the Patient Advocate.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is preferred.
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Experience with pediatric patients is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening.

Work Environment

This position is primarily based in a medical office setting, requiring frequent interaction with patients. The role involves standing, moving, and operating office equipment throughout the day.

Position Type

This is a full-time, non-exempt role. Flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet the needs of the health and wellness center.
