PROGRAM OVERVIEW
First Place Housing is dedicated to providing essential safe and secure accommodations for underprivileged families with children. The increasing homelessness crisis in the Seattle area has led to a rising number of families facing the threat of homelessness. At First Place, we prioritize housing for families as a fundamental aspect of our mission to support children and their caregivers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Housing Program Manager, the Housing Services Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering on-site property management assistance for a 16-unit low-income permanent housing facility and a duplex containing two subsidized units. Additionally, this position provides housing support services to families residing in 12 other subsidized and transitional housing units. All properties are located within Seattle's Central District and Rainier Beach neighborhoods. The Housing Services Coordinator collaborates with a team and may assist in the daily administrative functions of the First Place Housing program, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries, concerns, and needs in a confidential, respectful, and timely manner.
- Encourage and maintain positive relationships among staff members, vendors, and partner agency personnel.
- Engage constructively in staff meetings and all forms of communication.
- Support colleagues by taking on additional responsibilities during their absence.
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Collaborate effectively with partner organizations, including but not limited to SHA, City of Seattle, Solid Ground, and King County.
- Assist in the preparation of compliance reports as necessary.
- Participate in periodic inspections conducted by various agencies.
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines regarding client rights and privacy.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with other programs within First Place.
- Contribute to the overarching mission of First Place.
- Attend all mandatory meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Proven ability to track and complete tasks accurately and promptly.
- Capacity to maintain a calm, professional, and compassionate demeanor when interacting with clients experiencing intense behavioral challenges.
- Minimum of six months' experience in housing programs or a related field.
- At least six months of administrative experience or equivalent.
- Effective listening and communication skills with a diverse audience, demonstrating compassion.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, with attention to detail and flexibility; capable of making sound independent decisions while being a team player.
- Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to complete necessary documentation and follow guidelines.
- Proficiency in computer use (especially Windows and MS Office) and the ability to learn property management software and related systems quickly.
- Commitment to the mission, goals, and values of First Place.
- Criminal history background checks are mandatory prior to employment.
