Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Supervisor to join our team at ProAmpac. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of procedures, monitoring quality, production, and waste, and ensuring the efficient operation of our machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Oversee the implementation of procedures and monitor quality, production, and waste to ensure efficient operation of machinery.
  • Plant Walkthroughs: Conduct regular plant walkthroughs with supervisors to discuss any issues or hot items and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Goal Setting: Maintain goals of machine production, quality, waste, plant safety, and cleanliness to ensure optimal performance.
  • Quality Control: Complete final job approvals on daily production runs to ensure high-quality products.
  • Maintenance Management: Coordinate routine maintenance checks of machines for preventative maintenance and repairs needed, and write maintenance work orders as necessary.
  • Communication: Communicate production schedules established by the Production Planner with previous and following shifts to ensure seamless operations.
  • Attendance Monitoring: Monitor and track daily attendance of all employees on shift to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Training and Development: Implement and maintain a training program for employees to ensure they have the necessary skills to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Policies and Procedures: Maintain a working knowledge of the policies and procedures in the company handbook and enforce them when necessary.
  • Performance Reviews: Complete performance reviews of employees in a timely manner to ensure they are meeting their performance goals.
  • Safety and Quality Meetings: Conduct monthly safety and quality meetings with employees to discuss any issues or concerns.
  • Housekeeping: Verify that daily housekeeping tasks are completed to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Departmental Oversight: Oversee other departments when supervisors are unavailable to ensure seamless operations.
  • Reporting: Assist in the generation of multiple reports from AS400 to ensure accurate data and insights.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and maintain upkeep of production equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Customer Service: Communicate with the Customer Service Department to answer questions on production capabilities and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Job Specifications: Review jobs for appropriate specifications and the department's ability to run them when new orders are being placed.
  • Equipment Assistance: Assist operators when needed in maintaining and adjusting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Process Improvement: Research items that may lead to a more efficient operation, such as new equipment, and implement changes as necessary.
  • Operating Methods: Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Customer Complaints: Answer customer complaints through the analysis of bags, drafting a resolution, reviewing the measures with work crews, and educating crews on quality standards.
  • Supervisors' Meeting: Attend supervisors' meeting with the Plant Manager to discuss complaints, quality, monthly goals, and other concerns.
  • Staffing: Assess the need for staffing and assign weekend crews and work to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Personnel Actions: Initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures, as necessary.
  • Accident Reports: Complete accident reports and send employees for medical treatment when necessary.
  • Job Specifications: Confirm job specifications on production runs in process to ensure accuracy.
  • Materials Staging: Ensure that materials are staged for production for oncoming shift to ensure seamless operations.
  • Teamwork and Team Development: Accountable for teamwork and team development to ensure a positive and productive working environment.
  • Employee Coaching: Coach employees in all areas of work to promote a productive working environment.
  • Assembly Plan: Plan, organize, and execute the assembly plan to complete the schedule on time and to provide the highest degree of customer service possible.
  • Work Area Inspection: Inspect and monitor work areas and employees' behaviors for unsafe acts or unsafe conditions and take corrective action.
  • Results-Oriented: Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas.
  • Supervision: Supervise employees, including hiring and retention, performance review, and discipline.
  • Results-Oriented: Balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a production or operations role.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proficiency in AS400.
