Position Overview:

Reporting to the North America Power Distribution Quality Director, the Quality Manager will spearhead corporate, local site, and regulatory quality initiatives and processes. This role involves developing quality standards for raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, as well as designing innovative measures, tests, and sampling methods to ensure compliance with these standards.

The Quality Manager will collaborate closely with Corporate Quality, facility leadership, and external agencies. As the recognized expert in quality matters, this position will involve communication with top officials on behalf of the organization.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and monitor quality documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with current regulations.
  • Conduct thorough tests and controls to verify product conformity, from incoming inspections of raw materials to final tests on finished products.
  • Analyze processes to identify improvement opportunities to achieve Right the First Time (RTFT) goals.
  • Manage customer visits and audits, leading the team in customer claims management and resolution.
  • Provide technical expertise and hands-on support for quality issues in operations.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements, draw conclusions, and prepare technical reports of findings.
  • Mentor and train employees on quality standards and practices.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement projects based on risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with external vendors to ensure their products meet organizational quality standards.
  • Study and disseminate relevant standards and specifications for production and quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing procedures, participating in training sessions.
  • Work with engineering teams to enhance product quality and manufacturing methods.
  • Monitor external providers' performance and collaborate with suppliers to improve quality.
  • Engage with customers and internal teams to ensure product compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Organize and manage multidisciplinary Kaizen events focused on continuous improvement.
  • Address product quality issues, including customer complaints, inspection procedures, and corrective actions.
  • Participate in field failure investigations related to cable and system components.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of direct quality experience, including quality engineering, root cause analysis, standards development, auditing, and training.
  • 3 years of experience leading teams and processes.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a supervisory capacity.

Skills and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of international and market-specific quality requirements, including ISO 9001, UL, and CSA.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Proficient in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean and/or Six Sigma certification preferred).
  • Proficient in standard computer applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
  • Technical understanding of voltage cables and systems.

Work Environment:

This role operates within a standard manufacturing environment, utilizing standard office equipment. The position requires the ability to sit, bend, kneel, squat, use a keyboard, read, write, and communicate fluently. The employee must work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and respond efficiently to unexpected challenges.

Travel within the US may be necessary.
