The Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County (HOC) has been a key player in addressing the affordable housing needs of the community since its inception in 1974. HOC is empowered to acquire, manage, and enhance housing options, while also facilitating financial assistance and social services to support its initiatives.
Position Summary:
HOC is currently looking for a Temporary Case Manager to deliver Case Management Services and Coaching to fathers engaged in the Fatherhood Initiative Program. This role involves providing essential resources and referrals, guiding fathers through the various stages of the program. The Temporary Case Manager will oversee an average caseload of 40 participants each month.
Essential Qualifications
Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals facing challenges such as homelessness and disabilities, including mental health issues, substance use disorders, medical conditions, and cognitive impairments is preferred.
- Proven experience in crisis intervention.
Educational Background:
- A Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology is required.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and the Housing First approach.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with a team, engaging with other HOC divisions and community partners.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
