Senior Risk Management Officer

The Senior Risk Management Officer will be responsible for providing expert guidance on process and control design, ensuring effective assessment of risk across the broader operating environment, and supporting interaction between the Functions and 2nd LoD, including Risk Management and Compliance.
ScopeThe Senior Risk Management Officer will report to the Americas Division Head of Functions Control Officer with an indirect reporting line into the Americas Division Operations Head of Business Administration.
Primary Responsibilities- Leads and provides expert guidance on assessment of processes and controls across the functional areas within the Americas Division Operations, proactively assessing threats, vulnerabilities, and possibility of future incidents.
- Directs process re-engineering to improve efficiency and strengthen controls across the functional areas within the Americas Division Operations.
- Coordinates and supports interactions with 2nd Line of Defense, Internal Audit, and Regulators pertaining to processes and controls.
- Oversees implementation of risk management frameworks and related risk assessments of 1st LoD Functions executed by subordinate Control Officers.
- Leads educational efforts for 1st LoD staff across the Functions to ensure awareness of and adherence to policies, standards, and procedures, disseminating best-practice guidance.
- Ensure that the Functions are operating in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, provides oversight of processes designed to comply with requirements.
- Supports the Functions in the development of policies and procedures to enhance control environment.
- Provides business units with SME knowledge and expertise in the implementation of their programs.
- Assess key metrics to ensure operational effectiveness, establish and manage Function-level metrics.
- Support Functions strategic initiatives and projects through identification of risk and control considerations, as well as definition and operationalization of risk mitigants.
- Supervises Function-level Control Officer staff in their process and control-related objectives, including risk assessment (RCSA), issue management, root cause analysis, control testing and process and control assessments.
- Ensure that risk management considerations are embedded in daily processes and business strategy; identifies and reports on new/emerging risks.
- Produces or supervises production of management reporting and presents escalation items to management committees.
- Expert knowledge of process and control design, including process mapping and process reengineering.
- Expert knowledge of risk assessment and issue management.
- Expert knowledge of change management and continuous process improvement practices.
- Expert knowledge of banking and finances business and functional support areas.
- Executive-level leadership, communication, and strategy-development ability, inclusive of conflict resolution and project management abilities.
