Job Summary

The Staff Services Manager II is a key role within the California Department of Social Services, responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, direction, and implementation of all unit staff work efforts. This position serves as a subject matter expert in Indian Child Welfare and tribal affairs, working closely with the CDSS Office of Tribal Affairs (OTA) Director to develop and implement initiatives, policies, and tracking issues/outcomes/data relevant for annual reporting and strategic plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, and oversee all OTA unit staff work efforts.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Indian Child Welfare and tribal affairs.
  • Develop and implement initiatives, policies, and tracking issues/outcomes/data relevant for annual reporting and strategic plans.
  • Work closely with the CDSS Office of Tribal Affairs (OTA) Director to ensure successful consultative, technical assistance, trainings, development, implementation, and improvements related to the Outreach & Engagement Unit, Tribal Funding Unit, the Tribal Affairs Unit, Tribal Consultation, and the integration of tribal impacts in the work of CDSS.
  • Oversee the development/implementation of OTA initiatives, policies, tracking issues/outcomes/data relevant for annual reporting & strategic plans to report to the OTA Director.
