Job Description and Duties

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Staff Services Manager II to join our team at the Public Employees Retirement System. As a key member of our Customer Services & Support division, you will be responsible for leading a team of professionals in the Costing, Elections and Program Support Section.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage all activities of the Costing, Elections and Program Support Section.
  • Participate and collaborate with peer managers and staff on branch/enterprise project teams as a representative of the Division.
  • Provide guidance to subordinate managers to identify efficiencies within the teams to prevent backlog. Monitor workload in the units and supply the Assistant Division Chief with weekly metrics.

Requirements:

  • Experience planning, organizing, and directing management and teams requiring adherence to deadlines.
  • Experience leading teams in analyzing complex system issues and/or business processes, including making recommendations to resolve the issue(s) and/or streamline the process(es).
  • Experience coaching and developing subordinates on change management techniques when deploying changes to achieve an organization's mission.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is designated as office-centered and works primarily onsite at the Sacramento, CA - Headquarters at least three weekdays.
  • On a rotational basis, all employees will be required to provide telephone coverage and assistance during normal office hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 p.m.
  • Occasional overnight/in-state travel may be required.
