The Special Procedures Nurse is responsible for overseeing Imaging staff, ensuring efficient and effective patient care is provided to a wide variety of patients with diverse needs and whose information may be limited.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize a systematic approach to provide individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, making nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care, and developing and implementing a plan of care that addresses the patient's physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Communicate information appropriately with Medical Staff and other members of the health care team to promote continuity of care and attainment of patient expected outcomes.
  • Consistently provide outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests as appropriate to position. Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.
  • Possess basic knowledge of sterile techniques as it relates to the provision of CT assisted biopsies, fluoro guided procedures, and other interventions within the scope of an RN.
  • Places PICC lines, midlines, peripheral IVs with or without ultrasound guidance; for those patients who meet criteria. Obtains and maintains the education and competency as appropriate for the insertion and care of these lines.
  • Participates in the clinical oversight of student trainees.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • 3 years related experience.

License/Certifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of Texas.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Competency in moderate sedation.
