Plasma Center Medical Support Specialist

About the Role:
As a Medical Support Specialist at BioLife, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors. Your primary responsibility will be to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, and review laboratory test results. You will also be responsible for notifying donors of unsuitable test results and working under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician.
Key Responsibilities:
- Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Manage donor adverse events, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
- Work under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
