Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking dedicated professionals for the roles of Sustainability and Energy Solutions Engineer and Environmental Stewardship Associate Engineer. These positions are integral to advancing sustainability initiatives across various sectors, focusing on energy efficiency, resource conservation, and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to provide exceptional service in addressing sustainability inquiries.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of sustainability considerations for new developments or renovations, acting as a representative for sustainability objectives.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and organizational skills to manage multiple sustainability projects effectively.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge in HVAC systems and sustainability certifications.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse groups to promote sustainability initiatives.
  • Utilize familiarity with energy systems and building performance metrics.
  • Proficiently use Microsoft Office and advanced spreadsheet tools.
  • Make independent decisions and solve problems related to sustainability challenges.
  • Maintain attention to detail while fostering teamwork.
  • Experience with energy modeling software is preferred.

Specific Duties for Associate Engineer:
  • Support innovative projects aimed at enhancing building efficiency through sustainable practices.
  • Oversee project execution to ensure timely delivery with minimal disruption.
  • Calculate financial returns for sustainability investments.
  • Document project outcomes and assist in developing communication materials.
  • Identify sustainability opportunities through data analysis.
  • Review construction projects for compliance with established sustainability standards.
  • Assist in achieving sustainability certifications and provide guidance to stakeholders.
  • Create engaging educational resources for building occupants and maintenance teams.
  • Train maintenance personnel on sustainability practices.
  • Enhance preventive maintenance strategies to support sustainability goals.
  • Encourage sustainability efforts among the community.
  • Assess and resolve deficiencies in building systems.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary teams for audits and improvements.
  • Interpret construction documents and specifications.

Specific Duties for Engineer:
  • Lead energy audits and site assessments with various stakeholders.
  • Identify deficiencies in building systems and recommend retrofit solutions.
  • Manage building efficiency projects from conception to completion.
  • Ensure compliance and monitor progress for energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Document project developments and collaborate with stakeholders on sustainability projects.
  • Coordinate with teams on modifications to reduce energy consumption.
  • Identify and guide team members in implementing energy efficiency recommendations.
  • Evaluate the economic viability of innovative energy technologies.
  • Possess knowledge of building energy systems, utility metrics, and commissioning processes.

Qualifications:
  • For Associate Engineer: Bachelor's degree in engineering, sustainable design, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • For Engineer: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural, or Civil Engineering with at least 7 years of related experience.

Compensation:
These are full-time positions with competitive salaries based on experience and qualifications.
